What you need
Steps
- 1
Open the caption editor
In your video's chat, tap Captions under the video.
- 2
Write two short lines
Fill Top caption and Bottom caption. Each holds up to 80 characters. Emoji work too.
- 3
Choose where they sit
Under Caption placement, keep the default, above and below the video, so nothing covers a face.
- 4
Save
Tap Save captions. It is free: your video is updated in place and nothing is made again.
Why two short lines
Most people watch with the sound off. The top line says why to watch, the bottom line says what to do. Short lines are read in one look, before the video moves on.
Your task
Add a top caption of 6 words or fewer that says why to watch.
It worked when: No warning shows under the caption, and the video is updated.
If something goes wrong
- "That caption sits where Instagram and TikTok show their buttons."
- Move the caption up a little, or keep the placement above and below the video.
Questions
Do captions cost credits?
No. Adding, changing and removing captions is free.
